One of most popular unanswered questions is “Do I need to use an eye cream”? While those who use they do because they liked the advertisement or because their role model uses it and those not using don’t understand what their skin is trying to tell them. Your eyes are most beautiful part of your face, you can’t afford to ignore them.
The eye area is one of the first places to show signs of getting older. The eye area can get effected by our facial expressions and movements like frowning, smiling and squinting, creating fine lines, crow’s feet and laugh lines.
While you don’t want to become blank, you can control some of these lines, for example, by not raising your eyebrows and causing deep lines on your forehead (it takes a serious effort!)
Removing eye makeup carefully and reducing any other tugging, pulling or rubbing of the delicate skin area around the eyes should also be kept in mind.
Why Use an Eye Cream?
The skin under the eyes is thinner and more sensitive as compared to the rest of the face. Eye creams for daytime use help to reduce puffiness and dark circles and the nighttime versions usually have more skin softners and are meant to repair the skin while you sleep.
Pros and Cons of Eye Creams
There is a difference of opinion in the cosmetic industry as to whether eye creams are really necessary. One argument is that face creams are not made for the more sensitive skin under the eyes, but others believe there aren’t any special ingredients in eye creams.
Many of the eye creams, they say, contain the same ingredients found in a good face moisturizer, such as those to reduce wrinkles and to tighten the skin.
But many facial moisturizersare labelled as to avoid them using around the eyes.
The eye creams might be less irritating, created without smell and other ingredients which possibly cause problem. Women of color need to be careful when it comes to cosmetics because certain ingredients can cause skin discolouration.
Eye Creams Are Not Always Necessary
Everyone seems to be in agreement that body lotions and creams should’nt be used on the face and eye area, but you might be able to get away with just using a facial moisturizer instead of an eyecream if it has the same ingredients. Or you can create one own your own by checking the DIY Eyecream Tutorial
Eye cream is not always necessary. If you are not suffering from puffiness, dark circles or need to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, a good facial moisturizer can be used instead of an eyecream, especially if it is created for sensitive skin.
