Health Guide to Have You Wedding Ready
By Ketan Mavinkurve, Founder and CEO of Alpha Coach
Your wedding is supposed to be a wonderful journey that you’d cherish forever. However, it’s also a time full of stress, about the million things that we cannot control. Is the weather going to be good? Is the photographer going to be on time? Are the flower arrangements perfect? Will people like the food?
Don’t worry, take a deep breath, because I’m going to give you 5 easy tips that’ll prepare you for your wedding!
1) What gets measured, gets managed!
Problem: Most people get stressed out about a certain timeline. The advice to a single man that’s about to get married is exactly the same when it comes to weight loss: Be smart about your choice! Avoid extreme dieting, because starving yourself won’t get the job done; chances are, you’ll end up looking battered and defeated.
Solution: Find a plan and adapt it to your lifestyle 6 weeks before D-day. Quantify the fat loss you’re going after: because numbers matter. Basic tools such as portion control, calorie tracking, and tracking steps prove far more beneficial than just starving. My advice: Strategically eat smart, and achieve a calorie deficit – don’t starve.
2) Understand your food and eat accordingly
Problem: When you try extreme measures, it shows on the face (literally!), and you don’t want to arrive at your wedding or your date with a shriveled face. Focus on not just physically losing weight, but also looking and feeling great!
Solution: Don’t arbitrarily cut out complete food groups. Eat your salads, but don’t cut out on fat sources completely. Quality fats are essential for the absorption of various vitamins such as A/E/D. These vitamins are directly responsible for good-looking skin, hair, and general well-being. The result? Skin smooth as a peach! And, don’t forget to include a variety of fruits in moderation to keep that glow alive!
3) We’re mostly made of water, so drink enough of it.
Problem: A lot of us drink less water to “avoid bloating” closer to the event date. And then some gurus prescribe cutting salt out closer to that event date. Reducing your water and salt intake is the perfect recipe for bloating disaster, and will leave you feeling uneasy.
Solution: Hydrate well daily, and don’t change things up with your water intake. And surely don’t cut out salt from your food! Adequate Hydration = Ample Water + Sufficient Salts (Minerals).
4) Stress makes fat loss even harder
Problem: Losing weight can be stressful – we get it – how you manage that stress and keep under check is everything.
Solution: Building structures & systems into your life will allow you to take charge of your day, and taking some time out for yourself for training, running, and eating well, helps lower stress. When overwhelmed, you can also try meditating, breathing, listening to soothing music, and gratitude journaling.
5) Be a Heliotropic Organism: Provide positive energy
Problem: The root cause of hindered sleep (another stress builder) is a lack of daily sunlight exposure. The body’s biological clock (circadian rhythm) is set to wake and sleep at the right time. So how do we solve this?
Solution: Get daily sunlight! Have warm showers before bed to calm the mind. And, avoid caffeine abuse that might wreck your sleep schedule. This is the lifehack to more happiness. Give more of what you’d like to experience. Your future wife, date or spouse will thank you for it!
Practice a few or all of this starting today, and watch the difference in how you look, feel, and perform every day. And the best part, when you do a fat-loss program without over-fussing about it, you’ll already be optimizing for the best results, and looking your best on that big day!
