Uno Lona Academy, based in Ahmedabad, specializes in art and design education for K-12 students and early adults. They are specialists in mentoring students with college portfolios for universities abroad but have a nearly equal reputation for a more compounded program that builds a foundation in art and design for students.
The academy was initiated by a mother-son duo, both passionate about art, design, and education. Shalu Juneja was born and brought up in Chennai and did her Fine Arts program at Stella Maris College, which awarded her a Masters in Fine Arts Degree. In Chennai, she also trained under an established artist – Mr. Illango. She soon realized her passion for teaching art and went on to create magic with her son Harsimran, with Unolona.
Mrs. Shalu Juneja, Co-Founder, and director of the Uno Lona academy, has broken all odds. Along with being a successful female entrepreneur, she is also a pioneer for intrinsic Art and design education in our country. Being the lead educator, Mrs. Shalu is responsible for designing curriculums, delivering these curriculums, and also training her team of pedagogies.
She seeks to promote the fact that Art and Design for students can be as lucrative a career as medicine and engineering, and with the right guidance and mentorship, the sky’s the limit.
At Unolona, they strongly believe that it is important for them, as an art institution to spread the importance of pursuing it as a future career and breaking the long seeded taboo of not monetizing off of art. For Unolona, art is about creative freedom and that’s what they offer to their students.
Unolona has also collaborated with schools in Ahmedabad and Mumbai towards organizing a seminar, which educated children and parents on ‘How to Build an Art or Design Portfolio for Universities Abroad.’
And Mrs. Juneja truly envisions UnoLona, to pioneer the need for design and art mentoring and wants her students to believe that the world is their canvas.
