Tell us about you and your life journey.
My family wanted me to have a proper 9-5 job however, I was so bored with studies & academics. I was always trying to find an escape from school, college and even university. I used to skip lessons and take lots of days off. I always found more joy in doing something of an artistic nature. I was constantly looking for ways not to follow the ‘normal’ conventional path. My parents never liked the artistic animal in me. They used to say “what will people think?” I continued to study and do what all my other family members were doing (the norm). It wasn’t until one day when I met a boyfriend who was into acting that I signed up for singing lessons merely to impress him. That first singing lesson was 10 years ago and I booked it just to appear more exciting to this guy. He was the trigger behind a new decade of my life. 3 months later our relationship ended. Whilst my love life ended my musical life had begun. I have never looked back since. I have released 18 singles and 2 albums ‘Tumhaari’ and ‘Woh Pal.’ I achieved so much from letting my true self rise and my creative spirit be nurtured. Now I am launching my beauty brand ‘Arzutraa Beauty UK’ and I feel liberated to be doing what I am truly passionate about. It has not been easy, coming from a broken family I was traumatised as a child. I think that is what has made me who I am today as I have learned how to build a strong empire within as well as on the outside.
How did you come with the idea of an organic skincare brand? What can we expect from it? Who is it for?
I wanted to launch my beauty brand way before I had any plans to become a singer because I had spent so much time buying beauty products from my acne days and I grew a fondness for anything beauty related. I never had the time to set up the brand as I was studying or working then my music career took off so time was limited and I did not want to do anything half-heartedly. From my passion for natural beauty, I have been working over the years with a team to formulate organic hair & skin products because I knew one day I want to launch my own line. Not knowing the day would come so soon, it is an attempt to help others find their way into the land of organic beauty. To help others realise we do not need to expose our bodies to chemicals to see results.
What makes your brand different from other brands?
Arzutraa Beauty UK is a results-driven brand. It is based on the philosophy of ‘I will not sell anything I do not use myself. Period.’ My product has been developed with organic cold-pressed ingredients and is the only organic brand in the world to be launched by an Indian female singer. Unlike other brands, Arzutraa Beauty UK organic products mean 100% organic – not 80 or 98%.
What is your skincare routine? How do you maintain your skin?
(Laughing) My skincare routine usually starts with a cold milk rinse followed by a face wash, then rose & frankincense toner. I then put on my serum and roll my skin with my jade roller and end with SPF and any make-up. At night I usually am too tired for any long-winded procedure so I just use a muslin cloth with any beauty balm kind of cleanser then apply a light moisturiser. I do use face masks when I have special occasions coming up but otherwise, my skin routine is very simple.
What’s your absolute must-have for skincare?
My must-have for skincare is my face roller (soon to be stocked in my beauty store). It really helps loosen the tension, especially in the jaw and face after I have been sitting on the computer for long periods of time. It is funny how our facial muscles can jam up!
Is it going to be a global brand?
Arzutraa Beauty UK is a global brand where customers (and fans!) can make a purchase from my online store from anywhere in the world. I will also be having stockists in various countries namely Europe, Dubai, Egypt, Saudi Arabia to start with and expanding into American and Asian markets in due course.
What are your future plans?
Currently, I am working towards launching a Beauty brand which I am so excited about right now. It means so much to be able to share with the world something I have been working on silently for 15 years behind the scenes. I am also working on my 3rd Album and hoping to launch the first song from the album very soon.
