India Nightlife Convention and Awards are back with the 2nd edition of Sisterhood Soiree being held in Goa this year. Sisterhood Soiree is an initiative to award and empower women in nightlife and hospitality. The soiree is the first platform specifically designed to bring female industry leaders and aspiring women under one roof with an ultimate aim to increase female participation in the industry.
The India Nightlife Convention and Awards (INCA) was launched as a joint initiative by Aman Anand and Riyaaz Amlani in 2016 with an aim to improve the nightlife experience in India. INCA offers a great information exchange platform that allows experts around India to meet, engage and appreciate brands and new talents.
While we were all scared, uncertain, and worried but what is the secret that these women leaders not just fought the pandemic but continue to shape the hospitality industry.
On this, Rachel Goenka, Founder & CEO, The Chocolate Spoon Company comments ” Since re-opening, we are getting back on our feet gradually thanks to the exceptional teams. We are working tirelessly to destigmatize dining out and creating a safe environment for diners. Customer delight will always continue to be at the heart of all our endeavors to offer unparalleled experiences.”
“The hospitality industry is one such where it’s 24×7, 365 days of the year. You can never really switch off. But you do need to switch off to keep your sanity and so the best thing you can do as a leader is to allow your team to learn to take the lead” says Gauri Devidayal, Co-founder, Food Matters Group.
Just like us, the pandemic was a challenge to deal with. Aakritee Sinh, Chef Patron & Co-owner talks about how she dealt with adversity being a woman in a man’s world. “The thing all leaders & especially women entrepreneurs in this business have to learn is nobody gives you power. You just take it. One has to just push harder to rise to the top in what is still a very macho, patriarchal field. At beginning of the pandemic, I was hopeless and uncertain and then I had a clear vision. I decided to keep all fears aside ..and work hard at re-invigorating my passion and strength.”
Furthering to the dealing with pandemic experience, Tanya Swetta, Co-founder and CEO, id8 Media Solutions states that “As a CEO it was one of the most unprecedented times with no benchmark to fall upon. It’s amazing to see how important values are when it comes to creating a work family, the pandemic brought out the best in me and our core team members, cementing our trust in each other and allowing us to get stronger internally.”
It’s no secret that the hospitality sector was one of the worst-hit industries during the pandemic, it is even more imperative to bestow recognition and celebrate their contribution to transforming the hospitality sector. Sisterhood soiree by INCA stands to empower and recognize women in the nightlife and hospitality industry.
