Deepak Shah, Founder of November Noon was born in the textile city of Vanarasi. He grew up with a great understanding of everything historic and artisanal, always surrounded by creative artists, be it painters, textile designers or musicians. November Noon is an initiative of Shah Narayan Das & Co., an emporium/set up which has been working with the Banarasi weaving families for close to over a century, adorning India in its glorious handcrafted textiles. November Noon values the culture and tradition it’s been built on, and while it continues to uphold them; the brand also feels the need to break and move past the conventional expectations and boundaries of the industries.
November Noon is a Delhi-based design studio with a focus to make modern Benaras’s silk-weaving tradition. Founded in December 2020 by family-run tradecraft, with a belief that clothes have a purpose beyond the occasion. These are modern silhouettes vested with traditional roots—Benarasi textiles as everyday objects of desire. Devoted to craftsmanship and democratic design, November Noon’s product underscores the richness and scope of Indian textiles. It’s a collection of weavers, artisans, and designers. From scratch, every step of the process is carefully considered and discussed, and weighed. What one sees in our collection, are the outcomes of those joyful discussions.
The idea behind the brand name is to inculcate the idea of November as it resonates with the seasonal shifts. The month of November, in India, is rejuvenating with noons which is a translation between the summer and winter. November Noon is a step towards the future, with a mindful remembrance of the past appreciating the artisanal ancestry through modern expressions, exploring the traditional textiles and crafting techniques to weave the brand’s story into easy silhouettes.
